Final Cut Studio (2009): Activating QuickTime Pro for multiple systems from a disc image

Products Affected

Final Cut Studio (2009)

Symptoms

When using a disc image to install Final Cut Studio (2009) to multiple client systems with a Volume License serial number, QuickTime Pro will not be registered (activated).

All Final Cut Studio (2009) applications will work as expected.

Resolution

Follow these steps if you need the Pro features of QuickTime on systems that were deployed using a disc image with a Volume License serial number:

  1. On the client system, navigate to: /Library/Application Support/ProApps
  2. Move these files to the Trash:
    • ProAppsSystemID
    • Final Cut Studio System ID
  3. Open Final Cut Pro.
  4. You will be presented with the Licensing window.

  5. Enter the appropriate information in the First Name, Last Name, and Organization fields.
  6. Enter your Volume License serial number
  7. QuickTime Pro is now registered (activated) on the client system.

Repeat this process for any other client systems that need QuickTime Pro enabled (if they were deployed using a disc image with a Volume License serial number).
