iPhone 3G: MMS displays duplicate thumbnail images

Symptoms

When viewing a previously sent MMS message with multiple images attached, the thumbnails (or previews) may not correspond to the actual image. Instead, the same thumbnail is used for each image in the message:

When you tap the thumbnail for an image, the correct image is displayed.

Resolution

Update to iOS 4 or later.
