Xsan 2.2: "fsmpm not running" message in Xsan Admin

Symptoms

Xsan Admin may display the message "fsmpm not running" for a computer that is a member of the Xsan.

Resolution

Restarting the computer should resolve the issue.

If Xsan Admin continues to display the message, use the following steps:

  1. Quit Xsan Admin.
  2. On the affected computer, open Terminal.
  3. Execute these Terminal commands:

    sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.xsan.plist
    sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.xsan.plist

  4. Open Xsan Admin.
  5. Verify that the computer is showing as "Ready". It may be a minute or two before this status appears.
