Logic Studio (2009): Applications may quit unexpectedly when opening if Logic Pro 6 was previously installed on computer

Symptoms

Logic Pro 9, MainStage 2, Soundtrack Pro 3, and WaveBurner 1.6 may quit unexpectedly when you open them. If this happens, an alert may appear and If you click Report you will see the following:

 "Dyld Error Message:

   Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/XSKey.framework/Versions/A/XSKey

   Referenced from: /Applications/Application Name.app/Contents/MacOS/Application Name

   Reason: image not found"

 

In the above alert, the name of the particular application you tried to open will appear in place of Application Name. 

Resolution

 To resolve the issue:

  1. Navigate to /Library/Receipts.
  2. Move the "XSKey.pkg" file to the Trash.
  3. Insert the Logic Studio Install DVD.
  4. Uncheck all of the selectable install options, except Logic Pro (some options will be dimmed and will remain selected).
  5. Reinstall Logic Pro.
