Final Cut Server 1.5: Image Sequences in the Final Cut Server catalog upload again as individual image files by device scans
Symptoms
When you upload an Image Sequence to Final Cut Server as an image sequence asset, and a device scan automation is active on the device where the existing image sequence is located (such as the Media device, which has a scan response enabled by default), individual assets are created for each of the image files representing each frame that has already been uploaded to the device. This can cause the Final Cut Server catalog to be filled with unnecessary duplicate assets.
Products Affected
Final Cut Server 1.x
Resolution
Consider creating a device used solely for image sequences with no scan enabled on the device.
Alternately, consider configuring any device scan on devices that you use to store image sequences by setting up a Scan Response with an exclude filter on the scan, such as a Wildcard Exclude Filter, set to ignore individual files which match the filename pattern of those files in the image sequence.
Note: This is only practical if the scanned device does not contain any other non-still sequence files that match the same pattern.
For more information on Scan Responses and the Wildcard Exclude Filter, see "About Scan Responses" on page 77 of the Final Cut Server Administrator Guide.
