Mac OS X Server v10.5 Mail Server: Mail service doesn't start, "ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist: /var/imap" appears

Symptoms

After installing Mac OS X Server v10.5.4 on an Xserve (Late 2006) or Xserve (Early 2008), mail service may not start, and this alert may appear:

"ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist: /var/imap"

This may occur after an Erase and Install installation of Mac OS X Server v10.5.4.

Resolution

Execute the following commands in Terminal:

sudo /System/Library/ServerSetup/SetupExtras/postfix_config

sudo /System/Library/ServerSetup/SetupExtras/cyrus
