iPhone and iPod touch: Search in Mail shows results from To, From, and Subject

Symptoms

  • Search "All" in Mail may not show search results I was expecting.
  • Spotlight search may not show the Mail search results I was expecting.

Resolution

When searching for email messages from within Mail or when using Spotlight in iOS 3.0, you can search the To, From, and Subject fields. Search "All" searches all three of these fields. The text, or body, of messages is not searched.
