Resolution

To use iChat with an HTTP proxy

  1. Open iChat.
  2. From the iChat menu, choose Preferences.
  3. Select your account in the left pane if you use more than one account.
  4. Click the "Server Settings" tab.
  5. Enable "Connect using proxy" but deselect "Use System Preferences".
  6. Manually enter your HTTP proxy server settings in the iChat preferences window.
  7. Close iChat preferences.
