Troubleshooting web browser issues in MobileMe

Products Affected

MobileMe Account, MobileMe Calendar, MobileMe Contacts, MobileMe Gallery, MobileMe Mail, MobileMe iDisk, iWeb '09

Symptoms

While using a MobileMe application, you may sometimes experience issues browsing web page content. For example, your web page may not load or the web browser may display distorted, unrecognizable, or outdated content. Resolving these types of issues is often as easy as emptying your web browser's cache or using a different web browser to view webpages.

Resolution

Most web browsers use a feature called "caching" to display frequently used information, images, and web resources. Caching stores or "caches" this information on your computer so your computer doesn't have to download the same information every time it visits the same webpage. Caching makes subsequent visits to the same website or webpage faster.

In some cases, caching may have undesirable results. If a website or webpage has been updated since your last visit, your browser sees the update and then loads the new content instead of the old cached content. Sometimes however,  this doesn't work as expected and your browser displays the old information instead.

Follow the instructions below for clearing your web browser's cache in Safari and Firefox on a Mac, and Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer on a Windows-based PC.

  1. Close any open Safari windows.
  2. Go to the Safari menu and choose Empty Cache.
