Photos downloaded from MobileMe Gallery are not original file size
Symptoms
You may notice that the file size of photos downloaded from your MobileMe Gallery is smaller than the size of your original photos.
When you upload photos in iPhoto '09 versions 8.0 and 8.0.1 to your MobileMe Gallery, your photos may compress, even if you have selected the Actual Size download option. As a result, your uploaded photos may have the same resolution as the originals, but now have been compressed to a smaller file size.

Resolution
If you would like your downloaded photos to be closer to their original file size, do the following:
- Go to Apple > Software Update to update your iPhoto '09 software to version 8.0.2 or later.
- Open iPhoto '09.
- Select the web album you want to delete in the iPhoto Source list.
- Press the Delete key.
- Click Delete in the "Are you sure you want to stop publishing and delete the album 'name'?" alert.
- Select the pictures you want to republish at a larger size.
- Click the MobileMe publish button.
- Select the option to "Allow: Downloading of photos or entire album."
- Click Show Advanced.
- From the Download Quality menu, make sure Actual Size is selected.
- Click Publish in the MobileMe Settings sheet to republish the album to your MobileMe Gallery.
After updating to iPhoto 8.0.2, any photos you add to existing MobileMe albums will be published at a larger file size.
Note: The iPhoto 8.0.2 update improves the compression quality that iPhoto uses to create those new versions. However, your uploaded photos may still not be the exact file size of your originals even if you selected the Actual Size download option. If you want to upload original sized images, you can do so via the MobileMe Gallery application at www.me.com/gallery.
