Soundtrack Pro: May see "Unexpected Problem" alert when using some Audio Unit plug-ins

Products Affected

Soundtrack Pro 2.x, Waves 6 plug-ins, Universal Audio plug-ins, TC Electronics Powercore plug-ins

Symptoms

Soundtrack Pro sometimes displays the message "An Unexpected Problem: Uncaught exception." This may happen when you process audio at sample rates that are not supported by some third-party Audio Unit plug-ins.

Resolution

This may occur when you process audio files with a 32 kHz, 176.4 kHz, or 192 kHz sample rate with these plug-ins, or when you export projects that use them to a 32 kHz, 176.4 kHz, or 192 kHz file format. When working with Waves, Universal Audio, or TC Powercore plug-ins, if you see this issue, convert any files at these sample rates in your project to 44.1 kHz:

  1. Open each file as an Audio File Project by double-clicking it in the Multitrack Timeline. A new tab with the audio file will open.
  2. Choose Process > Resample from the menu bar.
  3. Choose 44100 Hz from Sample Rate pop-up menu.
  4. A message indicating that the file must be flattened will appear. Click OK to flatten the file. You may wish to create backups of the original files before doing this.
