iWeb: Issues publishing to MobileMe

Products Affected

iWeb, iWeb '08 (2.x)

Symptoms

If you use iWeb (iWeb '08 version 2.0.4 or later) to publish your website to MobileMe, you may encounter an issue where you are unable to publish directly to MobileMe. Your website may also seem to be missing content if you view it on a Windows-based computer.

Resolution

First, try upgrading to iWeb 3.0.2, which has improved publishing capabilities. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try these troubleshooting steps.

In iWeb, choose Quit from the iWeb menu. From the finder, choose Home from the Go menu. Then, drag the following files to the Trash (Note: The "~" represents your Home folder):

  • ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb
  • ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist
  • ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iWeb
Note: You may see several of these files, and they may contain a 12-digit number. Remove them all.
  • ~/Library/Caches/iWeb/ (Drag the iWeb folder to the Trash.)

After you have removed the files, republish your website:

  • In iWeb, choose Publish Entire Site from the File menu. If you are using iWeb '08, choose Publish All to MobileMe from the File menu.
