iCal: Floating time zone Calendar events are not supported on iPod touch / iPhone or MobileMe Calendar
Products Affected
MobileMe, iCal, iPhone, iPod touch
Symptoms
If you create events that use a "floating" time zone setting, the event's time zone settings may not be not transferred to your iPhone / iPod touch via iTunes USB or MobileMe over-the-air syncing. You may also notice that floating time zones are not preserved on your MobileMe Calendar.
Note: Computer-to-Computer sync is not affected by this issue.
When you create an event with a floating time zone, it will occur at the same time regardless of what time zone you are in. For example, a meeting you create for 5 p.m. with Floating selected as the time zone will take place at 5 p.m., no matter what time zone you are in.

Resolution
The iPhone Calendar and MobileMe Calendar do not currently use floating time zone events. If you sync iCal events with an iPhone/iPod touch or MobileMe, you should use a standard time zone setting for your events, instead of a floating time zone.
Set your computers and devices to your local time zone for best results. If you are traveling, you can update your time zone settings on your computer, iPhone, and MobileMe account to reflect your current time zone.
iPhone OS 3.0 adds support for floating events on the iPhone or iPod touch. You can update your device to iPhone OS 3.0 or later via iTunes 8.2 or later. The latest version of iTunes can be downloaded here. For information about updating your iPhone see this article.
