Boot Camp: No audio after connecting a S/PDIF digital cable in Vista

  • Last Modified: December 01, 2008

Symptoms

You may lose audio in Windows Vista on your Mac Pro if you plug in your S/PDIF (Sony Phillips Digital InterFace) cables after you change your audio settings to digital input/output.

Products Affected

Boot Camp, Vista (any)

Resolution

With your Mac Pro turned off, connect your S/PDIF cables. You should now be able to start up your Mac and change your audio settings in Vista without losing audio.

If you connect the cables while your Mac is on and digital audio I/O no longer works, restart your Mac while leaving the cables connected.

Log into Vista and verify that your audio settings are set appropriately in your Control Panel and applications.
