iPhone and iPod touch: iPod application may quit with 20 or more audiobooks

Symptoms

  • The iPod application may unexpectedly quit when trying to play an audiobook on an iPhone.
  • The Music application may unexpectedly quit when trying to play an audiobook on an iPod touch.

Resolution

To resolve this, install the iPhone 2.2 software update.

Note that you can also access your audiobooks by creating a playlist of your audiobooks in iTunes on your computer, sync it to your iPhone or iPod touch, and then select an audiobook from the synced playlist.
