Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express: Unexpected quit during AVCHD ingest

Symptoms

Final Cut Pro 6 or Final Cut Express 4 may sometimes quit unexpectedly when you attempt to transfer AVCHD media, if the third-party Perian QuickTime component is installed.

Resolution

You can remove Perian directly from System Preferences.

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Choose Perian from the View menu.
  3. Select the General tab in the Perian Preference pane.
  4. Click "Remove Perian".
