Logic Pro and Logic Express: Audio no longer audible after sending to external editor

Symptoms

If you open an audio file currently being used by Logic in another "external" Audio Editor (i.e. Soundtrack) using the Start external Sample Editor key command, and then save it, the audio may not be audible in Logic.

Products Affected

Logic Pro 7, Logic Express 7

Resolution

This issue occurs when you send a split stereo AIFF or WAV file to an external sample editor. Although Logic has no problems working with split stereo AIFF or WAV files, most sample editors only work with interleaved stereo AIFF or WAV files. In some cases, it is possible to send split stereo SD2 files to an external editor, but in general it is recommended to use interleaved AIFF or WAV files when working with Logic, especially when sending to an external editor is part of your workflow.
