MobileMe: Fields within the MobileMe signup page do not accept Japanese characters in Safari

  • Last Modified: July 20, 2009

Symptoms

You may not be able to complete some text fields during the MobileMe sign-up process if you use Japanese language characters (such as names or Furigana / phonetic reading). This issue may occur when using Safari in Mac OS X.

Products Affected

Safari 3 (Mac OS X 10.4), Safari 3 (Mac OS X 10.5), Safari 4 (Mac OS X 10.5), Safari 4 (Mac OS X 10.4), MobileMe

Resolution

Update your browser to Safari 4.0.2 or later before sign-up.

Note: If you are unable to do so, or do not wish to update, you can use English alphabet characters during sign-up. You can change your information later (to Japanese characters) at the MobileMe account page.
