iTunes Store: Can't download or play a podcast

I can't download a podcast

If a podcast doesn't download when you click the Subscribe or Get Episode button in the iTunes Store, the server that hosts that podcast may be busy or unavailable. Wait a few minutes or hours before attempting to download it again.

If you have podcast subscriptions and are trying to download the latest episodes, follow these steps:

  1. Open iTunes 4.9 or later.
  2. In the Source list, click the Podcasts icon.
  3. Click the Update button in the upper-right corner of the window to update all of your subscriptions.

I can't play a podcast

If you can't play a particular podcast, try deleting the podcast and then subscribing to it again, as follows:

  1. In the Source list, click the Podcasts icon.
  2. Select the podcast episode that won't play.
  3. Press Delete to delete the podcast.
  4. Select the title of the podcast whose episode you just deleted (the item with a disclosure triangle next to it).
  5. Click the Unsubscribe button at the bottom-right part of the screen.
  6. Click the Subscribe button that appears next to the podcast title.
  7. Click the Get button for the episode you deleted.

If you still can't play the podcast after following these steps, please use the "Report a Concern" link found below the Podcast Description to let the iTunes team know about the issue. Be sure to choose is not able to be played from the Choose Reason pop-up menu.
