Symptoms

QuickTime Player on Intel-based Macs can sometimes fail to play streaming video. When you try, the stream will appear to be connecting in QuickTime Player, but then it may pause and not begin playback.

Products Affected

Mac OS X 10.4.4, QuickTime 7 (OS X), Mac mini (Early 2006), iMac (Early 2006 20-inch), iMac (Early 2006 17-inch), MacBook Pro, MacBook

Resolution

Either update to QuickTime 7.1 or later or update to Mac OS X 10.4.5 or later to address this.

If you cannot update right away, as a workaround, you can force QuickTime Player to run in Rosetta. See "Intel-based Macs: Forcing a Universal application to run with Rosetta" for instructions.
