Soundtrack Pro: Installing Final Cut Studio after Logic Studio may overwrite the newer version of Apple Loops Utility

Symptoms

If you have installed Logic Studio on your computer and updated Soundtrack Pro to version 2.0.2, installing Final Cut Studio 2 may replace Apple Loops Utility with an older version.

Products Affected

Soundtrack Pro 2.x, Logic Studio, Final Cut Studio 2

Resolution

To avoid this issue, do not install Soundtrack Pro when you install Final Cut Studio. The version of Soundtrack Pro included with Logic Studio functions just like the version included with Final Cut Studio, so you shouldn't need to reinstall it.

If you have already installed Final Cut Studio after Logic Studio, follow these steps to reinstall Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2, which will update the Apple Loops Utility:

  1. Delete SoundtrackPro202Update.pkg from /Library/Receipts.
  2. Go to /Applications, control-click the Soundtrack Pro icon, and choose "Show Package Contents".
  3. Open the Contents folder in the window that appears, and open the file Info.plist with a text editor application.
  4. Locate the line <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key>.  Change the line below that from <string>2.0.2</string> to <string>2.0.1</string>.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu.
  7. Install Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2 from the Software Update window.
