Workgroup Manager: Static automounts appear at wrong location

Symptoms

Workgroup Manager adds the "net" option to static automounts, which causes them to mount at /Network/Servers rather than at the expected location.

(Those configured for shared applications or a shared library should mount at /Network/Applications or /Network/Library, respectively.)

This occurs with Mac OS X Server 10.3 or later.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, follow these steps:
 

  1. In Workgroup Manager preferences, select "Show 'All Records' tab and inspector".
  2. Click the All Records tab (looks like a bull's-eye, Figure 1).

  3. From the pop-up menu below the All Records tab, choose Mounts.
  4. Select the mount to edit in the list.
  5. Delete the "net" value from the VFSOpts.
