Symptoms

If a Mac OS X 10.4 Server is an Active Directory domain member and provides Windows file service, then Windows computer users can't add entries to access control lists (ACLs) of shared folders on the server.

Products Affected

Mac OS X Server 10.4

Resolution

Administrators can modify ACL permissions using Workgroup Manager at the server itself, or from a Mac OS X remote admin computer. See the Windows services administration guide and the file services administration guide for more information.

As a command line alternative, you can modify ACL permissions using the "chmod" command from a Mac OS X 10.4 computer, or via SSH from a Windows computer or other platform. See the command-line administration guide for more information.
