If your large-scale deployment of SMB begins rejecting authentications, you may need to limit the number of client connections.

Products Affected

Mac OS X Server 10.4

Resolution

  1. Connect to the server using Server Admin.
  2. If Server Admin does not indicate that Windows service (SMB) is already running, select it and click Start Service.
  3. Go to the Access pane for the Windows service.
  4. Change the Client Connections field from "Unlimited Client connections" to the appropriate value for your network.
