Bonjour for Windows: Unable to print to some HP printers where IPP configured as highest priority protocol
Products Affected
Bonjour for Windows, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Windows
This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.
Symptoms
HP printers ship by default with either LPD or 9100 Printing as the highest priority printing protocol. If for some reason you've configured your HP printer to use IPP, it may not work with Bonjour.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, use the printer's embedded web server to set LPD or 9100 Printing as the priority.
- Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer).
- In the Internet Explorer sidebar, double-click the printer name in the Bonjour browser.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Locate Other Settings on the left of the screen, then click it.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and locate mDNS settings.
- In the pop-up menu, choose LPD Printing (BINPS) or 9100 Printing.
- Click Apply.
- If asked to save the setting, save it.
- Close the browser window.
- After the printer settings are changed, delete the previous print queue from Windows.
- Add the new print queue by using the Bonjour Printer Wizard.
