Keynote: Transitions do not appear as expected in Flash export

Symptoms

When viewing a Flash file that you've exported from a Keynote project, you may notice that some of your transitions have been replaced with a dissolve. Other transitions that are present may play much slower than they did in your original Keynote presentation.

This can happen if you export a Keynote project to Flash that contains any of the following transitions:

  • Page Flip
  • Mosaic Flip (Large or Small)
  • Burn
  • Droplet
  • Falling Tiles
  • Flash
  • Grid
  • Iris
  • Radial

Due to the differences between Keynote and Flash, not all Keynote transitions can be exported to Flash. Instead, they are converted to a dissolve transition.

Resolution

As a workaround, export Keynote projects to QuickTime instead of Flash.
