Symptoms

You may need to render Real Time effects—indicated by bold text in the Effects tab of the Browser—when you add them to a sequence that contains oversized still images.

Final Cut Pro 6.x

Resolution

Sometimes when you add a Real Time filter to a sequence that contains oversized still images, you may need to render it before it will play.  For example, this might happen when you add a 2812-by-3408 pixel still image to a 720p25 sequence.  In such a case, you should expect to render the sequence because the image must be rescaled to fit the sequence frame size.
