Symptoms

When using Apple Xserve Diagnostics (AXD) in EFI on an Xserve (Early 2008) or using either Apple Service Diagnostic (ASD) or Apple Hardware Test (AHT) on a Mac Pro (Early 2008), viewing the Hardware Profile may display inaccurate VRAM sizes for the Video Controller.

Resolution

View accurate graphics card VRAM sizes on either platform by following the steps below.

  1. Restart the computer into Mac OS X.
  2. Click the Apple menu.
  3. Select About this Mac....
  4. Click More Info.
  5. In the Hardware section, click Graphics/Displays.
  6. Locate the VRAM field to see the accurate amount of VRAM installed in your graphics card.
