Symptoms

When using the Upgrade Client Software command in Apple Remote Desktop 3, an ARD 2.2 client computer that's running Mac OS X 10.3.8 or earlier may stop responding ("hang" or "freeze").

Products Affected

Apple Remote Desktop 3.X

Resolution

When this occurs, the task does not complete, and it remains in the Active Tasks window. The only way to stop the task is to use the Stop button.

To resolve the issue, update the client to Mac OS X 10.3.9, then repeat the Upgrade Client Software command.
