Final Cut Pro 6: Render times of Motion 3 projects may be much longer than Final Cut Pro 5 and Motion 2
Symptoms
It may take much longer to render Motion 3 projects in Final Cut Pro 6 than it did to render Motion 2 projects in Final Cut Pro 5.
Products Affected
Motion 3, Final Cut Pro 6.x
Resolution
This can happen because Motion projects can utilize float rendering in Final Cut Pro 6 and because of the addition of new render control options for Motion projects and Templates. This results in higher quality output, but slower render times. To speed up render times, follow these steps:
- Choose Final Cut Pro > User Preferences...
- Select the Render Control tab in the User Preferences window.
- In the Master Templates and Motion Projects section, set Quality: to either "Normal" or "Draft", as needed.
- Deselect the "Always use Best Quality when rendering Movies" option.
- Control-click each sequence in the Browser and choose Settings...
- Select the Render Control tab in the Settings window.
- In the Master Templates and Motion Projects section, set Quality: to either "Normal" or "Draft", as needed.
- Deselect the "Always use Best Quality when rendering Movies" option.
