Bluetooth, Mac OS X 10.5: Pairing the Apple Wireless Keyboard or Mouse after an Archive and Install installation

Products Affected

Apple Wireless Mouse, Bluetooth, Keyboards, Mac OS X 10.5

Symptoms

After performing an Archive and Install installation of Mac OS X Leopard or migrating users to Leopard via Migration Assistant, you may see an alert that states that your Bluetooth keyboard or mouse is not attached, or needs to be turned on.

Resolution

Turn your Bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse off for 30 seconds, then back on.

If the keyboard or mouse doesn't respond, or if an alert message appears again:

  1. Connect a USB keyboard or mouse.
  2. Open Bluetooth preferences (choose System Preferences from the Apple menu, then click Bluetooth).
  3. Verify that Bluetooth is turned on. (You can also do this with the Bluetooth menu bar item, if enabled).
  4. Pair the keyboard or mouse by setting it up as a new device.
