Final Cut Pro: Aspect ratio of imported images is sometimes displays incorrectly
Symptoms
When you import a still image into a Final Cut Pro project, the image sometimes displays at an incorrect aspect ratio.
Products Affected
Final Cut Pro 6.0, Final Cut Pro 5.X
Resolution
When you import a still image to a Final Cut Pro project, Final Cut Pro may automatically assign a pixel aspect ratio if the still image is a standard video pixel size.
For example, if you import a 1440x1080 image, Final Cut may assign an HD(1440x1080) aspect ratio. If this happens, follow these steps:
- Add the image to your project's browser.
- Control-click the image and choose Item Properties > Format...
- In the Item Properties window, locate Pixel Aspect in the first column, and control-click the current setting in the second column.
- Choose "Square" from the menu.
- Click OK to dismiss the Item Properties window.
- Add the still image to your sequence.
