Logic Pro: DTDM tracks may output no sound at 176.4 or 192 kHz

Symptoms

When you use Logic Pro with TDM (Time Domain Multiplexing) hardware, DTDM (Direct TDM) tracks may not output sound at samples rates of 176.4 or 192 kHz.

Products Affected

Logic Pro 7, Logic Pro 8, Digidesign TDM Hardware

Resolution

This is a known limitation with DTDM. Digidesign StreamManager, which is used to route audio from Logic's native audio engine to DAE (Digidesign Audio Engine), works only with streams up to 96 kHz.

If you plan to use a combination of DAE and native tracks in a project, set the sample rate no higher than 96 kHz. DAE tracks work as expected at all sample rates. In addition, note that the Software Click Instrument will not work at sample rates higher than 96 kHz with DTDM. The speaker click will work at all sample rates.
