Symptoms

iCal calendars that you publish to MobileMe may not show the correct event times when viewed online. The time zone in the upper right corner of the page also may not match the correct setting.

Note: This only affects calendars that you publish from iCal by choosing Calendar > Publish. This issue does not affect Calendars you sync to MobileMe Calendar from MobileMe System Preferences.

Products Affected

iCal 2.x, iCal 3.x, MobileMe

Resolution

When you view a published iCal calendar, the events appear based on the time zone of the computer that published the calendar. If the time zone was not set correctly on the computer, you may want to correct the time zone settings and then recreate and republish the calendar as described below.

Unpublish the calendar

  1. Select the calendar from the list of calendars in the iCal window.
  2. Choose Calendar > Unpublish.
  3. Click Unpublish when prompted.

Export the calendar from iCal to the Desktop

  1. Select the calendar from the list of calendars in the iCal window.
  2. Choose File > Export.
  3. Select the Desktop as the destination.
  4. Name and save the calendar.
  5. Quit iCal.

Set the time zone in System Preferences

  1. Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences.
  2. Choose View > Date & Time.
  3. Click the Time Zone tab.
  4. Select the time zone of your preference for this calendar.
  5. Quit System Preferences.

Create a new calendar in iCal

  1. Open iCal.
  2. Choose File > New Calendar.
  3. Type a name for the calendar.
  4. Press Return to accept the new calendar name.

Note: If you want this new calendar to have the same name as the previous, rename or delete the original calendar in the iCal listing and give the new calendar the original's name.

Import the exported calendar into iCal

  1. Select the new calendar name you created from the list of calendars in the iCal window.
  2. Choose File > Import.
  3. Select the option to import an iCal file.
  4. Click Import and locate and select the iCal (.ics) file you exported earlier.
  5. If prompted to select a calendar you want to add these events to, select the new calendar you created.

Publish the new calendar

  1. Select the new calendar name you created from the list of calendars in the iCal window.
  2. Choose Calendar > Publish.

Note: If you change your time zone to something other than your local time zone, remember to change your time zone back to your local time.
