MobileMe mail messages are missing
Symptoms
Learn how to find new messages that seem to disappear.
You may see some or all of the following:
- You are sure you have new mail and the application connects to the server successfully, but you see no new messages in your Inbox.
- You see new messages but they seem to "disappear" as you are looking at them.
Meanwhile, you see that there are messages in other mailboxes such as Sent Messages and Deleted Items. The only mailbox missing items is the Inbox.

Where to look for your Inbox mail
If you have another mail application configured using Post Office Protocol3 (POP3), your mail is probably being downloaded to another location. POP3 is often the default protocol for many mail applications. POP3 removes messages from the server and downloads them to the email client that is being used.
Examine the inbox of all email clients that have ever been set up to check that email account. Once you find the messages, you can send them back to your email account so that they can be accessed by your preferred email client application.
To prevent this from occurring in the future, limit your use of the account to only one email client application. If this isn't possible, be sure to enable the option to leave a copy of all messages on the server in the account settings so that the messages will be available to all clients. Another option is to configure all clients with Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP). IMAP will, by default, leave all messages on the server.
