Symptoms

After configuring Microsoft Exchange account on the iPod touch, original iPhone, or iPhone 3G, the following symptoms may occur:

  • No Exchange data such as work emails, contacts, or calendar appear on the device.
  • No error message appears on the device.
  • While no work emails have been received on the device, it appears that you can compose and send emails from the Exchange account (yet the intended recipient(s) will not receive your email messages).

Products Affected

iPhone, iPod touch, iPhone 3G

Resolution

Verify with your Exchange Admin if an Exchange domain name is required to be entered in the Microsoft Exchange account setup on the device for Exchange ActiveSync. If you're unsure whether or not the domain name needs to be entered in the account setup, try the following steps:

  1. If no domain name is entered in the Microsoft Exchange account setup, try adding the domain name, save the account setup, and check to see whether the device will now retrieve Exchange data over Wi-Fi or the cellular data network.
  2. If the domain name has been entered in the Microsoft Exchange account setup on the device, try deleting or removing the entry so that it's blank, save the account setup, and check to see whether the device will now retrieve the Exchange data thru Wi-Fi or cellular network.
