My iTunes Store receipts are going to my old email address

Symptoms

If you have recently changed the email address associated with your iTunes Store account, your receipts may be sent to the old email address that you had on your account.

Resolution

This can be corrected by following the instructions below:

  1. Go to My Apple ID.
  2. Choose Change Language if the webpage is not in your preferred language.
  3. Select Manage your account.
  4. Enter your iTunes Store account name and password then click the Sign In button.
  5. Click Name and Email Address on the left side of the webpage.
  6. Add a 1 to the end of your email address in both fields.
  7. Click the Save Changes button.
  8. Click on Name and Email Address on the left side of the page.
  9. Remove the 1 from the end of your email address in both fields.
  10. Click the Saves Changes button.
  11. Click Sign Out in the upper-right corner of the webpage.
  12. Sign in to the iTunes Store.
  13. From the Store menu, choose View My Account.
  14. Click the Edit Account Info button.
  15. Click Done.

After 48 hours have passed, purchase an item. The invoice will be emailed to the email address you have associated with your account.

Note: You can test to see if your email was updated after 48 hours have passed by ordering a free item from the Free On iTunes box (about halfway down the iTunes Store homepage). When you order a free item from iTunes, you will get an invoice emailed to the email address you have associated with your account.
