Motion: Aliased edges on some objects exported using Compressor
Symptoms
When you export from Motion with Compressor using the Apple ProRes 422 codec, some objects with diagonal lines may appear with aliased ("jagged") edges.

The aliasing occurs on the edges of objects over a transparent background.
Products Affected
Compressor, Motion
Resolution
There are a number of different ways to work around this issue so that object edges will appear smooth, as below. Choose one that suits your workflow from these methods.

- Use a solid background.
Before you export, make the background of your project solid instead of transparent. This will not preserve the alpha channel.- Choose Edit > Project Properties.
- In the General tab, choose Solid from the Background menu.
- Click OK.
- Export Apple ProRes 422 without using Compressor.
This issue should not occur when exporting ProRes files directly without using Compressor.- Choose File > Export.
- From the Use menu choose one of the Apple ProRes 422 options.
- Click OK.
- Type a name, choose a location, and click Export.
- Use Animation codec instead of ProRes.
This method is useful in cases where you need to preserve the alpha channel transparency of your project.- Choose File > Export using Compressor.
- Choose Animation Alpha from the Export Preset menu.
- Click Export.
- Type a name, choose a location and click Export to export to Compressor.
Note: The Animation codec is limited to 32-bit color (8 bits per channel)
