iPhoto and Aperture: Printed Books, Cards, or Calendars appear with missing or truncated text

Symptoms

Books, cards, or calendars you order from Apple may appear with missing or truncated text when printed or ordered.

Resolution

Preview your order by following the steps in this article. If you are satisfied with the book, card, or calendar preview, then close the Preview window, return to iPhoto or Aperture, and place your order.

If there is missing or truncated text:

iPhoto

  1. Close the Preview window.
  2. Quit iPhoto.
  3. In the Finder, click the Go menu and choose Go to Folder.
  4. Type ~/Library/Preferences/
  5. Click the Go button.
  6. Locate the file named "com.apple.iphoto.plist".
  7. Drag the file to your desktop.
  8. Choose Log out from the Apple () menu.
  9. Log back in.
  10. Open iPhoto and preview your order again.

Aperture

  1. Close the Preview window.
  2. Quit Aperture.
  3. In the Finder, click the Go menu and choose the Go to Folder.
  4. Type ~/Library/Preferences/
  5. Click the Go button.
  6. Locate the file named "com.apple.aperture.plist".
  7. Drag this file to your desktop.
  8. Choose Log out from the Apple () menu.
  9. Log back in.
  10. Open Aperture and preview your order again.

If your order now appears correctly when viewed from the Preview application, then place your order by clicking Buy in iPhoto or Aperture.

Removing the ".plist" file will reset the software preferences to the default settings. Please note that if your Library is located on a separate partition or hard disk, you may need to point Aperture or iPhoto to the Library location when you reopen the software. You can do this by holding Option while opening iPhoto or Aperture.
