Mac OS X 10.5.2: Server Monitor and ipmitool cannot connect to server

Symptoms

Issue or symptom

After installing the Mac OS X 10.5.2 Update, the client's Server Monitor application may not connect to a server. Also, the ipmitool command may report "Library not loaded" when run.

This could occur on a non-server Mac that has Server Admin tools installed.

Solution

Update the non-server Mac to Mac OS X 10.5.3 or later and install the Mac OS X Server Admin Tools version 10.5.3 or later, available from Apple Support Downloads.
