iPod not recognized and Windows Device Manager is empty
Symptoms
Can't see your iPod in Windows Explorer or iTunes?

iTunes 7 for Windows, iPod, iTunes 8 for Windows, Windows XP
Resolution
Check Device Manager first (right-click on My Computer, choose Manage, and then select Device Manager). If no devices appear in the Windows Device Manager, then keep reading.
