Symptoms

Aperture 2 may quit unexpectedly when you open the application after migrating Aperture to a new system, or perform an archive and install type of Mac OS X installation. The logs for the incident may indicate that ProKit or Plug-in Manager frameworks are missing.

Resolution

You should install Aperture from the installation disc when you migrate to a new system, although you can move your Aperture Library.

If you have already used Migration Assistant to move the Aperture application—or have performed an archive and install of Mac OS X—and find you are having this issue, there are two resolutions that may work for you:

  • Reinstall Aperture from your installation media, then run Software Update to update Aperture to the latest version.
  • Download and install the ProKit 4.5 update.
