MobileMe Sync: Conflict Resolver states that seemingly-identical contacts have conflicts after Mac OS X 10.5 upgrade

Symptoms

If:

  1. You were previously syncing Address Book contacts in Mac OS X 10.4.10 via MobileMe, and
  2. You upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (or migrated your Address Book data to another computer)

... then the first time you sync contacts with MobileMe in Mac OS X 10.5, Conflict Resolver may alert you that there are conflicts between the data in Address Book and the data on MobileMe.

The contacts may appear to be identical.

Resolution

If the contacts appear identical in the Conflict Resolver and you are not sure which to choose, select the contact under the Address Book heading, and resolve any similar conflicts using Address Book.

Additional Information

This can occur if the Address Book contact contains an image. Mac OS X 10.5 optimizes how images for Address Book contacts are handled.
