Mac OS X: Sherlock Cannot Open Enclosing Folder on UFS or NFS Volume

The Sherlock Open Enclosing Folder command does not work if the selected item is on a UFS formatted volume, or a volume that has been imported using NFS.

Symptom

If you select an item in the Items Found list in Sherlock then choose Open Enclosing Folder from the File menu, the Finder comes to the front, but does not open the enclosing folder.


Solution

Double-click the icon of the folder in the Items Found list instead of choosing Open Enclosing Folder from the File menu.
