To make it easier to access an application, document, or folder from another folder or the desktop, you can create an alias to it.

In the Finder, open a window showing the item. Press the Command and Option keys while you drag the icon to another folder or the desktop.
If you want to find the original item of an alias, select the alias and choose Show Original from the File menu.
If you want to find the original item of an alias, select the alias and choose Show Original from the File menu.
