Archived - How to repair Software Update for Windows
Windows OS, Windows Vista, Windows XP, iTunes
Software Update is an Apple-supplied Windows program that updates Apple software (such as iTunes and QuickTime) over the Internet.
If Software Update becomes unresponsive, you may need to repair the software using the Add or Remove programs Control Panel:
Windows XP and Windows 2000: On the Start menu, click Control Panel and click Add or Remove programs.
Windows Vista: On the Start menu, click Control Panel and click Uninstall a program.
Alternately, in Classic View of Control Panel, click Programs and Features.
- Locate Apple Software Update in the list of installed programs and select it.
- In Windows XP and Windows 2000, click the Change button.
- Click Repair.
- In Windows XP and Windows 2000, once it is repaired, click Finish.
- Check to see whether repairing the program fixed the issue. See How to tell if Software Update for Windows is working correctly when no updates are available for instructions.
