iPod photo: Unexpected slideshow behavior after upgrading to 1.1

After upgrading iPod photo from 1.0 to 1.1, you may experience certain unexpected slideshow behavior. This may occur if you do not connect iPod photo to iTunes 4.7.1 after upgrading.

One or more of the following may occur:

  • Certain transitions, such as "Push Across", do not work during a slideshow.
  • Selecting Random transitions does not work as expected.
  • A black screen may occur during slideshow.
  • Photo colors do not appear correctly and may look like "abstract art."

The solution is to connect iPod photo to iTunes 4.7.1 after upgrading iPod photo from 1.0 to 1.1. Allowing iTunes to update your photo library on iPod photo should keep this issue from occurring. Restoring iPod photo software 1.1 instead of upgrading from 1.0 to 1.1 should also prevent this from occurring.
