Mac OS X 10.6: Burning a disk image on a CD or DVD with Disk Utility
This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.
You can use Disk Utility to burn a disk image on a recordable CD or DVD. You can use the disc as a backup copy of your information, to transfer files from one computer to another, or to restore the files on a disk. You can also burn items to a recordable disc in multiple sessions (called “multisession” burning) until the disc is full.
To burn a disc, you need an optical drive in your computer or connected directly to your computer. You can’t burn a disc using a remote optical drive.
To burn a disk image to a disc:
-
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
-
Click Burn, and then follow the onscreen directions.
For detailed instructions, open Disk Utility and choose Help > Disk Utility Help.
