Mac OS X 10.6: The Help menu
The Finder and most other Mac applications have a Help menu in the menu bar at the top of the screen. You can use the Help menu to locate options in other menus, and to search for help topics.
To locate a menu option:
Open the Help menu, and type part or all of the option’s name in the search field.
When you see the option you’re looking for listed in the Help menu, choose it.
For example, to see a list of all the menu options that contain the word “new,” type “new.” Choose an item in the list, and the menu containing that option springs open.
To search for help topics:
Type one or two words in the search field.
As you type, help topics appear. Choose a topic from the list, or choose Show All Help Topics to see more topics.
To get onscreen help:
Open an application and choose its help from the Help menu. For example, open Mail and choose Help > Mail Help.
For more information, visit the Apple Support website, or refer to the documentation that came with your Apple products.
For a product from a company other than Apple, try checking the company’s website and looking for “support” or “help” links.
