Transferring items from a Windows computer to a Mac

Here are some ways to transfer files or folders from a Windows computer to a Mac.

To transfer items:

  • Copy the item to an intermediary location such as an external disk, thumb drive, or remote server, and then connect the disk, drive, or server to the Mac.

  • Burn the item to a CD or DVD disc, and then insert the disc into the optical drive on the Mac.

  • Connect the Windows computer and your Mac to the same wired or wireless network.

  • If your Windows computer has an Ethernet port, directly connect the two computers using an Ethernet cable.
